Mr. B's has gone through a menu transformation this last year for the better. Every time I end up at Mr. B's these days there is something new and tasty on the menu (pizza is delicious). I believe all the menu changes are due to new ownership. I hope more and more customers start talking about the positive menu changes at Mr. B's because I wouldn't want any food goers to miss out on any warm deliciousness.

Mr. B's is always a hit or miss for me. I would say out of the Rochester and Royal Oak locations the Rochester one is the worst. On more than on occasion I have been left standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting for a table because none of the servers feel it is their job to set anyone. The atmosphere is extremely dark, like there are no lights on, and quite frankly a little sad. After waiting 25 minutes for a 2 top table on the upper deck at the Rochester location, my guest and I were ignored by every single employee that walked by. I got the attention of a server and she told me she would be right back...we never saw her again. That was the second time I walked out of a Mr. B's location. But sometimes going to Mr. B's isn't so bad. Recently, and friend and I stopped by for a drink on the patio at the Royal Oak location on bike night. The server was a little show on the drinks but other then that I have no complaints. You really have to lower your standers when deciding to eat or drink at a Mr. B's.

Wow, what a disappointment. I used to be a Mr B's fan 15-20 years ago and loved going to all of the restaurants (Utica, Rochester, Royal Oak). We even had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Mr B's Rochester we loved the places so much! This was, sadly, not the Mr B's of old. I used to love the Nacho's at this location - they were served on a large pizza platter, had mounds of cheese, beef and the other goods - and were simply too much to eat. Not so any more - after a long delay, we received a small plate with a small number of tortilla chips and a mound of meat. Asking for more chips resulted in another 10 minute wait before getting a handful more chips - ridiculous. What was worse was that the cheese was hardly melted, and it seemed like someone just fried up some hamburger meat and threw it on - no flavor at all. For lunch I had the classic "Slopburger", which was fair. However, the seasoned fries that I remember so fondly were hardly seasoned - and were lukewarm. My daughter's cowboy burger was much the same. My other son's quesadilla was completely forgotten. After we asked about it, 10 minutes later he received something that was absolutely overflowing with grease - almost like they tried to rush it out without properly preparing it. Service was incredibly slow - we were there over an hour for lunch at 2pm on a Sunday (place was empty). On top of that, the food was just bad. This was near the worst experience I've had at a restaurant, and this was a place I used to LOVE!!! Be forewarned - this place is not what it used to be, and you should avoid it.

I've been here only once and I didn't enjoy the atmosphere, the food is nothing to rave about, typical "a-ok" pub food, pizza is nothing special, just 'meh..'. I was mainly here for the company and to have a drink, the bar is well stocked and the drinks came on time and my company was taken care of with drink. The music selection here was 80's so I'm not sure if that is a regular theme or just the time that I attended, but my drinking comrades let me know that this was typical 80's Mr.B's fashion.

I really want to like this place, given how many of my friends have such fond memories of coming here "back in the day." I just moved here and have come for dinner twice and just can't seem to find the same charm. The decor in the main dining room is just tired. They have boards outside saying come try the new Mr. B's, we make our own sauces etc. While that may be true they need to focus on some atmosphere and actual food. The burgers are good, but let's face it, good burgers are not that hard to find. I ordered calamari last night and as soon as it hit the table I could smell bad seafood. ICK. It was drenched in sauce and inedible, it went back. I will say (and this is where I think Mr. B's should focus) that we had the chicken lettuce wraps also last night and they were delicious. I would go get them again. They were fresh, unique, homemade, and presented well. Our friends had a nice fresh arugula salad, it looks very good and they thought so. Not that Mr. B's needs to focus on healthy food just an updated menu. If they want to continue to compete they are going to have to focus on the atmosphere too. In their defense they opened up the two dining rooms and that looks great, but it needs some more work before I'm becoming a regular.

I can't remember the last time I wanted to leave zero stars. But this place deserves it. Horrible service. The place was not busy at all but everything took forever. It took at least 20 minutes for a couple drinks. Almost an hour for the food. Most things were cold once they arrived to the tables I just don't get it. Don't bother with the onion rings they're nasty. Food was below par overall. What happened to this place? There are some many other places. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else.

The new Blues bar is great! Saw a great band and had a really good burger with onion rings. Something for everyone at this place. Love the happy ambiance.

Enjoyed a great blues show at Boo's on Friday night 1-2-15. Had a delicious short rib special, wife had a vegetarian black bean pasta that rocked. Great new wine offerings and craft beers as well. Chef/Owner Johnny P. is making very solid improvements to the food... burgers are fantastic, apps, ribs, mexican items and specials are all worth a try. Boo's is a blues venue inside of Mr. B's that offers an intimate, live music "club" vibe on weekends. Highly recommend !

Had the Slop Burger today with seasoned fries. Awesome! The new ground chuck with cheese was cooked perfectly. Service was great and the new decor looks great. Will go back soon to try out the bands in the new Boos blues bar section.

I don't know where to start. I had a party of 9. My brother arrived 20 mins early and ordered cheese curds and didn't receive them until i got there 20 mins later. It's a sunday night, dead as all hell "Now I know why". Once we sat the server" if i can call him that without insulting true servers of the world" came up to us and asked us what we wanted to drink. Once most said water to start he looked all confused but since we only arrived 10 secs we haven't had a chance to even sit and look at the drink list no way we could make a real choice. Once we all decided on what we want we place our order. OMG you'd think we were discussing rocket propulsion to a chimpanzee with the confused face he was making and we had to repeat our orders more than 4 times for him to understand. After he walked away with our order it took almost an hour. "restaurant was still dead" Our order 5 burgers, 1 fajita, 1 ruben, 1 fish and chips and french dip. ALL EASY AND NONE HAD SPECIALS. Once the food came holy crap could get better food at most fast food joints. WHY DON'T YOUR BURGERS AND SANDWICHES COME WITH FRIES OR EVEN ANNOUNCE THAT OR SAY YOU CAN UPGRADE TO FRIES. Once bill time came there is a 18% gratuity charge.... ARE YOU FUC**NG KIDDING ME. I've never heard of such a large charge speacily at a bar/burger joint are you crazy. When problems started to happen the manager didn't even have the balls to come out of hiding. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. LET THIS LOCATION DIE. MANY OTHER GREAT PLACES TO GO IN ROYAL OAK.

Not the old Mr. B's :-( Went in for dinner on a Friday night, restaurant was half full and it took 50 minutes to bring a turkey sandwich and fries. Great beers on tap, but service was slow. Asked to have our order checked and was told "We're dealing with a lot of big parties". Saw a few tables of 4-5, but nothing to justify the incredibly slow kitchen. Food tasted okay, fries tasted reheated and we're not very hot. If you just want drinks, they deliver quickly. But the rest? YIKES.

Overpriced food that tastes like it came out of a freezer. Cool atmosphere to hang out in though, I just won't eat here.

The weather was beautiful! I opted to sit outside. I picked this place because I wanted to enjoy the weather, take in a beer and burger and people watch. Three of the four happened. After about a 40 min wait for my burger that never came I called for the check. Upon paying after I was gathering my things the burger came. Bad service means bad food in my book! Sorry Mr. B' my table of 1 should have been handled with white gloves. It was only one order. This burger lover will not be back no matter how good your burgers are.....next!!!

I strolled in a few minutes after opening and sat at the bar with a friend. We were swiftly met by the bartender who was very friendly and chatted with us as she poured our beers. Very good selection of drafts and bottles. The menu was recognizable as Ive been here many times before but when the food came out I knew something was up. It was certainly presented in a new fashion which was very appealing. Overall everything seemed fresher and presented in a much more cared for way. Turns out there is a new owner/head chef. I could sense he loved what he did. Its in the food. So, EAT IT.

I stopped in for lunch last weekend during a visit to the Detroit Metro area. It was nice out so we decided to sit outside. Originally we were seated in the sun so we asked to be moved to a table in the shade shortly after being seated. The staff luckily had no problem accommoding us. Our server was Amber and she definitely left something to be deserved with regard to the service she provided. She was just awful. She didn't come to check on us, was extremely slow and honestly seemed overwhelmed at times. We had to flag down another waitress and a bus boy to request their assistance in getting her to return to the table. At one point she was helping a customer across from us and happened to be in the path of another server. The server just rolled her eyes and shook her head at Amber as she waited to get by. That spoke volumes to us and we began to feel sorry for Amber. I don't blame Amber. I blame the restaurants management staff. It's management's job to evaluate an employees performance and some peop simply aren't cut out for certain jobs. It's not personal or demeaning. It's simply business. But allowing subpar performers to staff a business is simply asinine. It wasn't just Amber though. The entire staff seemed clueless for the most part. On two separate occasions a staff member came outside and asked the all the patrons if they had ordered the plate of food he was carrying. Are you serious? What kind of person doesn't take the time to look at the seating chart before bringing out someone's food? I don't care if you are just paid to wash the dishes. That's bad business anyway you slice it and once again a reflection of the restaurant's management. We waited nearly forty minutes for our food even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. When it finally did arrive the fries were lukewarm. I ordered a hamburger which didn't have much flavor. It was a nice portion size, a good grade of meat and fresh. All that was cancelled out since the burger didn't taste very good. But it was good enough. It was a beautiful sunny day so I chose to make the best of it. My friend had the chicken fingers and he thought they were ok. I took a bite of one and thought they tasted gross myself. During the meal Amber didn't come to check on us. We had to have other restaurant employees track her down. It took forever for our check to be delivered to the table and an eternity for Amber to return once she did come to collect the payment. I'm usually a pretty easy going person but even I was beginning to get irritated. My friend and I couldn't wait to just get the heck out of there.

The calamari here us the best I've ever tasted, and it's consistent. The karaoke is good, but don't expect to sing much, because everyone can sing, and everyone for the most part can typically carry a tune without sounding like nails on a chalk board, and some are really, really, good. Like rockstar good. The older male bartender has been there the longest, and is by far, the best. The younger bartenders are a bit snobby and negligent, but maybe it's a Royal Oak thing? Beautiful, old-school atmosphere that can get loud at times, but typically it's an ovation when a rockstar nails a song.

Great sports bar. shaky on the sound on the TV but it was affordable. I had the wings with honey Chipotle and my friend had regular barbecue. Wasn't a fan of the fries but the atmosphere was great

My pregnant wife and I went here for lunch. We chose to sit inside where the tables were almost empty. We were seated quick and our waitress took our order within 7 minutes of sitting. After that the wait began. 3 tables around us got sat. We finished our waters and never saw our waitress again. The table that came in right after us got their appetizer after about 20 minutes. We still didn't receive a checkup to even fill our waters. After 40 minutes the table next to us got their food. They came in 10 minutes after us. We had ordered just a couple sandwiches. The place wasn't busy. We never even got a drink refill. The service was awful and we walked out without anyone ever checking on us. 45 minutes without a checkup and to make sandwiches is terrible. There are plenty of other places in royal oak to go that has service figured out. The management should really take notice of their awful service.

Sorry to say I will never return to this restaurant. After golf, my friends from our league would meet for dinner & drinks weekly & were told they could not put two tables together to accommodate us. We've never been back & have found a restaurant down the road who truly appreciates our business.

I dined at this Mr. B's location in Royal Oak on Sunday, August 2nd during low volume time between lunch and dinner and I could not have been more disappointed. I came in to eat with my wife and very hungry 4 year old son after we were at the Detroit Zoo in the heat all day for a late lunch yesterday and I am utterly disgusted about how we were treated. Our original server, a male, greeted us and brought my son a water and my wife and I two diet cokes, forgetting our lemons. He disappeared and after about 15 minutes, I stopped a group of 5 or 6 of your waitstaff talking loudly behind us to ask if we could order. The woman who took our order, just came up to our table scowling, and just looked at us in a condescending manner instead of apologizing and asking if we were ready to order. I was ready to walk out at this point and it took every ounce of my energy not to say something to ask her if I was bothering her. I got up the second time and asked the manager for lemons and we received those promptly. After we waited 45 minutes we received our food finally , only for it to be a complete disaster. The original server who took the drink order denied fault and made an excuse that he didn't take the order and asked me if my son's burger was an adult portion. Like I'm supposed to know??? We ordered a kids hamburger! My wife's burger had ketchup all over it (she really dislikes ketchup, which is why she didn't order it) and I did not receive my mayo that I asked for. I asked for mayo again and after I promptly received it, I spread it all over my burger to only realize it was tartar sauce. At this point I was infuriated. This was the third time I had to get up and by this point we ate so late that it pretty much held up our dinner plans for later and we weren't even hungry by that point in time. I would like to give some advice to the management as I would NEVER under any circumstances return to this joke of an establishment. If you make a mistake, own up to it and don't make excuses. Tell your waitstaff to put a smile on their faces and not look completely miserable. Also, maybe your waitstaff shouldn't stand around and talk in the dining room as your good paying customers are neglected in the dining room. I have dined at Mr, B's locations in Rochester, Shelby Township and Clarkston and enjoyed the food, but this restaurant's poor service and extremely unpleasant wait staff would probably make me not want to return to any of these locations ever again. We did receive a measly 20% discount on our dinner which I could care less about because I would have rather spent $100+ dollars at an upscale establishment and received at least decent service and be treated like human beings. I don't see this restaurant lasting long with all the complaints that I saw during my visit. Update: I emailed the restaurant and they blatantly ignored my complaint. They obviously don't care about their customers. This is 10 days later and my email has been ignored.

Fabulous food and incredible service! We had a birthday party with over 40 guests. The chef worked with us to accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions and the food was delicious! The servers and staff amazed us with the quality of service. No one went with an empty glass or an empty plate in front of them throughout the evening. They remembered each guest's name after being introduced once and were so attentive to our needs. I can't thank Mr. B's staff enough for making our evening so incredibly enjoyable!

I'm in love with their new menu items. I just had their new chicken sandwich and it's actually fresh meat that they make in-house... pretty awesome. Their staff is friendly and helpful.
